It gives me a great pleasure to welcome you to the Postgraduate College of Osun State University. The National Universities Commission approved its establishment on the 16th June, 2014 and the University matriculated the pioneer set of postgraduate students into various programmes offered by the Postgraduate College for the 2015/2016 session on Thursday 23rd June, 2016.
The philosophy of the College is to produce highly skilled manpower to meet national and global human resource needs in the universities, research institutes, government establishments, non-governmental organizations and the industry; while the vision and mission aligns with that of the University.
The College has undergone phenomenal growth in the last ten years of its existence from a modest eighteen (18) approved programmes at its inception to one hundred and ninety-nine (199) programmes across sciences, engineering, agriculture, health sciences, management & social sciences, education, arts, law and computing. The enrolment of students has also increased from forty-six (46) at inception to one thousand three hundred and fifty (1,350).
Osun State University is a conventional university and runs a collegiate system with six specialized colleges in six strategically located campuses in Osun state, Nigeria. The Colleges are the College of Agriculture, Ejigbo; College of Education, Ipetu Ijesa; College of Health Sciences, Osogbo; College of Law, Ifetedo; College of Management and Social Sciences, Okuku; and College of Science, Engineering and Technology, Osogbo. The Postgraduate programmes also run on these campuses while the Global Affairs and Sustainable Development Institute (GASDI) runs on the main campus, Osogbo. Osun State University boasts of a crop of experienced faculty members – professors and established research mentors of international repute, safe multi-ethnic environment conducive to teaching and learning, well-equipped laboratories, specialized multi disciplinary research laboratory and one of the most extensive networks of laboratories and specialized research centres in Basic & Applied Sciences, Engineering, Medical and Life Sciences amongst others. The Modupe and Folorunso Alakija Medical Research and Training Hospital (MOFAMRTH) at the main campus offers one of the global best medical research and training facility. Part of the co-curricula experience students stand to benefit from the University include attendance of conferences and workshops organized by the University for scholars. There are also scholarship opportunities for alumni with first class degrees in different programmes and teaching and research assistantship opportunities for doctoral students. It is noteworthy that the University has enjoyed a stable academic calendar in the last five years, which has helped to ensure that students complete their studies at normal record time.
